GIS Technician I

Butler County is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated GIS Technician I to join our GIS Department. Under the direction of the GIS Director, youll play a key role in maintaining and updating the countys Geographic Information System (GIS), property ownership records, and other geographic data using the ESRI's ArcGIS. Key Responsibilities: - Edit and maintain GIS data, shapefiles, and geodatabases - Update property ownership, agricultural use, and tax mapping - Interpret legal descriptions and support parcel splits/merges - Respond to inquiries from the public, title companies, and other departments - Assist with GIS-related tasks including map creation and data analysis What Were Looking For: - Experience with ESRI ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro preferred) - Ability to read legal descriptions and interpret property documents - Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and willingness to learn - Background in geography, GIS, cartography, or related fields - Associate degree or equivalent experience required; 23 years GIS experience preferred This is a full-time, non-exempt position with excellent benefits and the opportunity to work on meaningful public projects that impact your community.
