Job Description

<p>RAILS is seeking a values-driven and strategic CEO to lead our organisation through its next chapter of impact and growth. For over 45 years, RAILS has delivered free legal assistance, education and advocacy in refugee and immigration law to people across Queensland. We work with some of the most vulnerable in our community supporting safety, dignity and justice.</p><p>As CEO, you will lead a team of 40+ staff and be responsible for delivering our 2025-2029 strategic plan, ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability and a collaborative and inclusive organisational culture. You’ll also be responsible for building strong partnerships and driving meaningful systemic change.</p><p>We’re looking for someone with:</p><ul><li>Proven experience in a senior leadership role in a legal or community legal setting</li><li>Strong financial and operational management capabilities</li><li>Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills</li><li>A passion for social justice and working alongside diverse communities</li></ul><p>Legal experience is highly regarded, including:</p><ul><li>Current unrestricted practising certificate or previous legal experience</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of social and political factors relevant to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers</li><li>Experience or understanding of immigration and refugee legal service delivery</p>
