The Spine Surgery group of Canada East Spine Centre in Saint John, New Brunswick is seeking a skilled and dedicated Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) Technologist to support complex spinal and select cranial surgeries. You will perform real-time neurophysiological monitoring and contribute to a nationally recognized academic and research-focused environment. This full-time role includes occasional, emergent after-hours coverage and the opportunity, if desired, to participate in clinical research.
Summary of Duties
- Consult with surgeons and anesthesiologists regarding patient risks and IONM modalities
- Clearly communicate the IONM procedure to patients preoperatively
- Place and verify all electrodes per established protocols
- Monitor multimodal waveforms (SSEP, MEP, EMG, etc.) during surgery
- Provide timely feedback to the surgical team on patient status
- Upload and maintain surgical logs accurately
- Maintain IONM equipment and report any technical issues
- Apply appropriate monitoring protocols; troubleshoot signal issues as needed
- Keep current with literature and best practices in IONM
- Participate in occasional, emergent after-hours cases
