Ensure compliance of work with international construction codes, project specifications, tender requirements, work instructions, procedures, and manuals. Perform in-process and final inspections in the shop and onboard. Participate in work identification as required. Conduct material inspections of mechanical equipment and other miscellaneous items. Inspect installation of rotating machinery such as pumps, skids, main engines, thrusters, and propellers. Carry out thorough stage-wise inspections in accordance with procedures/codes, including alignment and assembly of equipment at the site during installation. Witness chock fastening of main machinery; possess knowledge in valve overhauling and testing. Witness load testing of mechanical machinery, pad eyes, trolley beams, and cranes. Witness torque inspections for bolting of main machinery. Witness quality-related testing such as hardness testing, crush testing, and roughness testing. Utilize precision instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges; conduct HVAC system inspections. Coordinate and liaise with classification societies, third-party inspection agencies, ship superintendents, and other trades to ensure adherence to relevant standards.
