The System Administrator is responsible foreffective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenanceof computer hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individualensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and relatedprocedures adhere to Commonwealth policies, standards, and guidelines.Responsibilities include systems administration engineering and provisioning,operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensurecontinual innovation. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configurehardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. inaccordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Perform dailysystem monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware,server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and applicationlogs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Performregular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Perform dailybackup operations and regular file archival and purge as necessary. Create,change, and delete user accounts per request. Provide Tier III/other supportper request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.Diagnose and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate andcommunicate with impacted constituencies. Apply OS patches and upgrades on aregular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / addnew services as necessary.
