We have recently posted a job advertisement with the position title of Center for Black Digital Research - Data Scientist but we wanted to share informally that this position is really intended to embrace the broader scope of our growing community here at the CBDR at the intersections of Black Studies, archives, and AI. We are not looking for Data Scientists in the traditional sense so much as folks who can join our squad in all the ways we operate and aligned with our principles. A person in this position would be involved in our data curation, building digital infrastructure, building community, and joining us on our critical explorations of large datasets and machine learning, very broadly considered. You might be a good fit if you are someone who got formal training in AI but knows its dangers deeply, someone who begins with movement work and ends in the archives, or versions backwards and forwards of all of the above.
