We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Law Clerk to join our civil litigation team. This is a 3-month contract with potential for extension — ideal for a professional with experience supporting personal injury or insurance defence lawyers in Alberta.
In this role, you’ll support 2 in-house lawyers and manage up to 70 active files related to bodily injury (BI) and tort claims. You'll play a key part in file management, document review, and preparation for mediations, examinations, and more.
🔍 What You’ll Do
- Review and summarize legal documents, including medical and court files.
- Prepare affidavits, briefs, records, and legal correspondence.
- Support case progression through the litigation process.
- Coordinate Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), including brief preparation and expert liaison.
- Organize materials and assist with preparation for client meetings, mediations, JDRs, and other attendances.
- Independently manage priorities and work proactively with minimal oversight.
- Learn and utilize legal software including TeamConnect and ACL (training provided).
- Collaborate with a professional, respectful, and supportive team.
✅ What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience as a Paralegal or Law Clerk supporting civil litigation in Alberta.
- Knowledge of Alberta court rules, litigation procedures, and legal documentation.
- Experience in personal injury or insurance defence considered a strong asset.
- Strong document and file management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); Adobe and TeamConnect are assets.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proactive, resourceful, and able to work well independently.
- Diploma in Legal Assistant or Paralegal Studies preferred.
