Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student to join the Smart BioNano Laboratory at Texas Tech University. This role involves conducting interdisciplinary research focused on developing sustainable and energy-efficient chemical separation processes using biomaterials. The successful candidate will contribute to projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of critical mineral and metal separation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop stimuli-responsive biosorbents for eco-friendly separation processes.
  • Conduct experiments involving genetically modified biomaterials and chemical separations.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to optimize separation processes.
  • Collaborate with other researchers to advance project goals.
  • Prepare and present research findings in publications and conferences.

Required Skills

  • Strong background in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • Experience with biomaterials (e.g., bacteriophage, protein, carbohydrate polymer).
  • Knowledge of chemical separation processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
