We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student to join the Smart BioNano Laboratory at Texas Tech University. This role involves conducting interdisciplinary research focused on developing sustainable and energy-efficient chemical separation processes using biomaterials. The successful candidate will contribute to projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of critical mineral and metal separation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop stimuli-responsive biosorbents for eco-friendly separation processes.
- Conduct experiments involving genetically modified biomaterials and chemical separations.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data to optimize separation processes.
- Collaborate with other researchers to advance project goals.
- Prepare and present research findings in publications and conferences.
Required Skills
- Strong background in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field.
- Experience with biomaterials (e.g., bacteriophage, protein, carbohydrate polymer).
- Knowledge of chemical separation processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
